George J. Schlagel is the senior founding member of Schlagel Gordon & Kinzer, LLC and has been in practice in Olathe, Kansas since receiving his law degree in 1974. Prior to the creation of SGK, George was the owner of the law firm of Schlagel and Associates. A fourth-generation resident of Johnson County, George is both an undergraduate and law school graduate of the University of Kansas. George has a BV rating with Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory.
George is an accredited estate planner. He concentrates his efforts in estate planning and probate, including drafting wills and trusts, durable powers of attorney, health care powers of attorney, living wills, formation of guardianships and conservatorships, planning for medical decision-making and estate and trust administration, including the preparation of estate and gift tax returns. He has substantial experience in estate and trust litigation, and with litigation involving the wrongful use of powers of attorney and related breaches of fiduciary duty cases. George also maintains a practice emphasis in real estate transactional work, both commercial and residential, involving buying, selling, and related matters.
George is a member of the Board of the Park and Recreation Commissioners of the Johnson County Park and Recreation District. George is a past president and 30-year member of both the Olathe Area Chamber of Commerce and the Olathe Noon Rotary Club, as well as an active member in various other civic and business organizations in the Johnson County community. He is also a member of the Johnson County, Kansas, Missouri and the American Bar Associations and the Eastern Kansas Estate Planning Council.
